It never lets you down - Hoeksema’s Regionale Milieudiensten
A Monday morning in Grootegast, Groningen. While most people are still finishing their first cup of coffee, the trucks from Hoeksema’s Regionale Milieudiensten (HRM) are already on the road. Drivers travel throughout the country to collect, sort and process industrial and household waste.
Their daily challenge? Providing customers with the fastest, safest and most sustainable service possible. To get the job done, HRM uses the skiploaders and hooklifts from VDL Container Systems for containers from 3 to 45 m³.
Sustainable systems, sustainable cooperation
VDL has been their regular supplier for many years. Sustainability is an important factor. “Simple tends to be good. And we like that,” says Operations Manager Jan Kingma about the systems from VDL. “They are robust, low-maintenance and last a long time. That means they’re sustainable, too.”

Their systems run smoothly every day. Jan: “Lifting, transferring, lowering and tipping the containers is easy. Even a child could do it. The systems are intuitive and easy to learn.”
Systems that do what they are supposed to
The drivers are enthusiastic, too. According to Thijs-Jan Boerma, the skiploader is straightforward to operate. “It never lets you down.” He also points to his sheeting system: “That means I don’t have to climb out on the truck as much. It makes my job safer and easier.”
About the VDL hooklift, Driver Sjouke Kingma says: “The system is fast, strong and user-friendly. I’m super proud of it.”
Jan agrees. They get virtually no complaints from the drivers. If something does happen, there is a partner in Groningen available to do maintenance work. If that falls through, they can turn to VDL itself. “Everything is always taken care of quickly,” says Jan.

Would they recommend VDL? The three gentlemen nod enthusiastically. “We’ve had great experience with them,” said Jan. “VDL is also a company that you can sit down with to discuss how things can be improved for the future.” Thijs-Jan likes to show off his system to others: “It’s easy to be convinced.”
