When working in remote locations at multi-purpose terminals, it is essential that your machines and equipment are reliable. We have taken this into account in the design of our spreaders. For example, we use as little electronics and mechanical rotating components as possible. This reduces the risk of downtime and ensures the availability of your spreader. By using high-quality steel, it is also lightweight. This allows you to have more capacity and lift heavier containers.
HEAVY-DUTY HYDRAULIC CYLINDERS
Two critical components of our mobile port crane spreader (the telescopic system and the flippers) use cylinders. These components move linearly rather than rotatably and are therefore less prone to failures. Additionally, they require less maintenance and are quicker and cheaper to service, repair, and replace.
24/7 AVAILABILITY THANKS TO DOUBLE MOTOR AND PUMP SYSTEM
When you use your spreader intensively and under tough conditions, there is always a chance that something will break down. To prevent complete downtime, our spreaders have a dual motor and pump system. This clever hydraulic design ensures that if one of the two systems breaks down, the other will keep working. And so will your spreader.

COSTUMISED MOBILE HARBOUR CRANE SPREADERS
At VDL Container Systems, we customize the design of your spreader to suit your preferences. We supply spreaders for 20 and 40 ft containers, but you can also opt for a 45 ft stop. The modular building blocks make it possible to configure the spreader according to your wishes.

Twinlift
With our twinlift option, you can lift two 20 ft ISO containers simultaneously from the ship.
Double pin suspension
With two pins instead of one, your spreader hangs more stably on your crane. Moving containers becomes quicker as a result.
Security platform
Thanks to this platform with a ladder, staff can safely load and unload your crane using your spreader.
Transversal adjustment
Does the ship on which the containers are located tilt? Then it is difficult to remove them. With our ‘transversal adjustment’ option, you can tilt the spreader so that you can work efficiently even at an oblique angle.
Height detection
With our height detection, your crane automatically receives a signal when the spreader approaches the container. This causes the spreader to approach the container more gently, minimizing the risk of damage and accidents.
30 degree flipper stop
Especially when combined with our height detection function, positioning your spreader above the container is even easier. The flippers fold over the corners of the container at an angle of 30 degrees. This makes picking it up easier and faster.
Twin Twenty detection
Our ‘Twin Twenty’ container detection checks whether there is one or two containers hanging under the spreader and whether the spreader is in the correct position for the number of containers to be lifted. This way, you always work safely.
Cold weather package
By heating the oil tank in your spreader, your oil and spreader stay at the right temperature. This keeps the spreader quick and powerful, even at temperatures well below zero.
Capacity increase or decrease
Do you process your containers with a weight less than your maximum capacity? Then we can also design lighter spreaders for you. Need a system that can carry more weight? No problem.
Automatic lubrication system
The twistlocks used to pick up and rotate the containers need to be lubricated from time to time. Our automatic lubrication system counts how often they rotate and lubricates them fully automatically after a certain number of rotations. This keeps them operating smoothly.
(Noise) attenuation
Our damping system dampens heavy shock and noise. This minimizes the impact on the spreader and people in the surrounding area.
