Are you working in a smaller terminal? Chances are you do not have equipment that can take over the work during failures, maintenance or repairs to your machines. It is therefore essential that your machines are reliable. We have taken this into account in the design of our yard crane spreaders. We use as few electronic and mechanical, rotating components as possible. This reduces the risk of downtime and you can rely on the availability of your spreader.
An electric yard crane spreader? That is also possible. In fact, many of our customers choose this option. Electric yard crane spreaders require less maintenance than hydraulic spreaders, are more energy-efficient, quieter, and better for the environment because they do not use oil.
At VDL Container Systems we customize the design of your spreader to suit your needs. We supply spreaders for 20 and 40 ft containers, but you can also opt for a 45 ft stop. The modular building blocks make it possible to configure the spreader according to your preferences.
Specially designed for fully electric yard crane spreaders, we have developed a hybrid flipper. In this design, we combine the advantages of a hydraulic system with those of an electric system. This means that the flipper is just as powerful for absorbing shocks as a hydraulic system, but with limited oil usage, reducing the risk of oil leaks. Choose between 4 corner flippers or 6 side flippers.
Can't the crane to which you attach the spreader rotate? Then the spreader needs to do it to load the container onto the truck correctly. This is possible when you choose our rotation function. It might be that the weight inside the container is unevenly distributed. To prevent this from becoming dangerous, you can shift the center of gravity using the centroid adjustment.
All four twistlocks used to attach the container to the spreader can move individually 10 centimeters up and down. This helps to dampen shocks and noise.

With our twinlift option, you can load two 20 ft ISO containers simultaneously from the ship.
With our height detection, your crane automatically receives a signal when the spreader approaches the container. This allows you to approach the container more slowly, minimizing the risk of damage and accidents.
Our ‘Twin Twenty’ container detection checks whether one or two containers are hanging from the spreader and whether the spreader is also in the correct position for the number of containers being lifted. This way, you always work safely.
Do you process your containers with a weight lower than your maximum capacity? Then we can also design lighter spreaders for you. Need a system that can carry more weight? No problem.
The twistlocks used to pick up and rotate the containers need to be lubricated occasionally. Our automatic lubrication system counts how many times they rotate and lubricates them fully automatically after a certain number of rotations. This keeps them operating smoothly.
